Kitchen equipment falls into four main categories: food preparation, cooking, maintenance & cleaning and serving. Each category offers various essential wares that are integral parts of a commercial kitchen environment.

Bakeries and pizzerias require dough sheeters while steak houses require meat tenderizers. Other kitchen equipment includes mixers, utensils, and storage solutions.

Slow Cooker

Slow cookers (commonly referred to as crock-pots) work by slowly simmering food at low temperatures for an extended period. You can prep a recipe before leaving home in the morning, and enjoy coming home to a hot meal waiting for you when you return!

At the end of their cooking process, some recipes require adding ingredients like herbs and spices, pasta or rice that need to reach temperatures higher than what can be achieved using the low setting in a slow cooker to be fully cooked.

Spatula

If you have ever fried an egg, baked a cake, or decorated cookies then the importance of the spatula cannot be overstated. This tool features a flat head on a long handle with different shapes and sizes available to meet specific kitchen tasks.

These non-stick friendly utensils are heat resistant and flexible. Constructed from rubber, plastic or silicone with wide flat tips to avoid scratching pans or other cookware surfaces.

Turner spatulas are made to tackle anything you throw their way. You’ll find these tough tools perfect for flipping burgers, fish fillets and pancakes without burning your fingers – with grooves or air slots designed to drain grease away and long handles to shield hands from heat.

Utensils

Utensils are essential components of any kitchen, offering various functions for cooking and food prep. Storing these tools safely ensures you will always have what you need when the time comes to cook!

Stainless steel kitchen utensils are an ideal choice, as it resists corrosion from most common foods and provides an optimal balance between durability and cost.

Silicone and wood make excellent choices for utensils because they do not release chemicals into the environment and are heat resistant, yet may crack over time and harbor bacteria. Ceramic and glass offer safer alternatives but may break at sudden temperature changes.

Pans

Frying pans are great tools for high-heat cooking methods such as frying, scrambling, sauteing and searing. Available in several materials that cater specifically to menu items and maintenance requirements.

Professional kitchens often depend on stainless steel frying pans to evenly distribute heat and create beautiful fond, or brown bits, for sauces.

Ceramic pans begin as non-stick wonders that make fried eggs slide right off, but over time their non-stick properties can degrade over time. Some people suggest “seasoning” your ceramic pan, similar to how cast iron pans can be treated – by repeatedly coating its interior with oil and heating it to its smoke point until all slickness has returned.

Scales

Kitchen scales are essential tools for bakers, chefs and health-minded individuals who wish to keep track of their diets. In addition, these devices come in handy when recipes call for accurate measurements such as flour.

Scales come in all shapes and sizes, but all work by measuring force (your weight) by using calculations based on Hooke’s law to convert measurements to numbers on their display screens.

Before using your scale, ensure it works correctly by placing an object such as a nickel on it and making sure it registers zero. Furthermore, regularly performing taring checks will help to ensure its functioning properly.
